Species of Concern

The San Luis Obispo Creek watershed provides habitat and migration corridors for many species of concern including fish, wildlife, birds, and plants.

Species of Concern are animals and plants which may be protected by federal, state, county, or city agencies. They are also species which the US Fish and Wildlife Service is reviewing for consideration as Candidates for lising under the Endangered Species Act. Additional information is needed in order to propose as threatened or endangered.

Threatened species are defined under the Endangered Species Act as "any species which is likely to become an endangered species within the foreseeable future throughout all or a significant portion of its range."

Endangered species are defined under the Endangered Species Act as "any species which is in danger of extinction throughout all or a significant portion of its range."
